Communities unite for fun events.

COMMUNITIES across west Cornwall pulled out all the stops to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in style.

With four days to choose from, some were lucky with the weather and others were not.

Events on Saturday and Monday in places like Redruth, Barripper, Leedstown, Carharrack and Angarrack were blessed with warm sunshine.

But those villages that held their celebrations on Sunday or Tuesday of the double Bank Holiday weekend faced tougher conditions.

Sunday's celebration in Illogan went ahead as planned despite poor weather, but Tuesday's thick mist and drizzle forced villagers at Portreath to move their celebration from Greenfield Gardens into the Millennium Hall.

But rain or shine, everyone was determined to party.

Red, blue and white bunting, balloons and clothing ensured colourful occasions everywhere.

Most communities marked the jubilee with presentations to their children.

Commemorative mugs were handed out in many villages and parishes, although Illogan took a slightly different tack, handing out jubilee first-day covers, and Lanner gave crowns hung on ribbons.

Tehidy Park Golf Club marked the occasion with a sell-out jubilee street party.
