MALCOLM DATE TROPHY:

A significant improvement by Kathryn Galloway saw her racing her way to become the first winner of the Malcolm Date trophy.

Malcolm, an enthusiastic member of Hayle Runners, died suddenly in November and his club decided to name a race and present a trophy in his memory.

Hayle Runners decided to arrange a handicap race over the 10 kilometres of the Mounts Bay course starting and finishing in Marazion.

The idea was to give every runner in the club an opportunity to win providing they can perform well against their previous effort.

Kathryn from Angarrack led from start to finish and improved on her personal best by more than 14 minutes in a race dominated by the clubs women runners who gained the first four places ahead of Pete Ellis, the only male to beat his previous best on the day.
