DO YOU KNOW WHO STOLE THESE BOARDS FROM A KIDS SURF LIFESAVING CLUB????

Help us get this post circulated across the whole country and catch those responsible!!!

Christchurch Surf lifesaving club have asked us to share this post!!! These boards will be offered for sale somewhere! Cornwall is very popular with Lifesaving and our community know a lot of fellow Surflifesaving participants throughout the country. Please share this as far as possible and help catch the criminals and try and reunite the kids with their boards!!!

Someone somewhere knows who has these boards or has been offered them for sale!!!

Overnight on Tuesday 12th May, Christchurch Life Saving Club clubhouse at Friars Cliff beach was broken into and thousands of pounds worth of equipment was stolen. This included a 2-stroke 30 HP Mariner outboard motor and 5x brand new junior race boards (2 x tiger print and 3 x chequered, as in the photo).

Not only have thise responsible stolen vital equipment used by the club to SAVE LIVES and to teach youngsters to SAVE LIVES, they have stolen from a small, charitable, non-profit organisation of assets for which dedicated members worked extremely hard to get kind donations of funds.

Christchurch Life Saving Club is a close-knit family of people with a common, selfless interest in saving people’s lives. It would mean a lot to the club if you could share this info and keep an eye out for anything matching the descriptions above. Please pass any information on to your local Police using telephone 101.

SHARE THIS POST AS FAR AND WIDE AS POSSIBLE!!!

Two Devon and Cornwall Police Officers seriously injured during Incident in Kingsbridge

A 53-year-old man arrested and in custody.

Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Eastwood, Acting Devon Commander said: “Following an incident in Kingsbridge (13th May), two police officers suffered serious arm injuries and were taken to hospital.

“These two officers remain in hospital and are due to undergo surgery. It is important to stress that while these injuries are serious, they are not life threatening. The whole of Devon Cornwall Police sends its best wishes and thoughts to these officers.

“The welfare of our officers, their families, and colleagues is paramount. Resources and support has been put in place to ensure that those affected by this incident have all the support they need. This also is true for those who responded to the aid of the injured officers at the scene, as we would following any traumatic incident.

“We have been inundated with messages from the public sending their best wishes to our injured officers, both in person and via social media - these will of course be passed on. I would like to personally thank the public for
their show of support.”

Ch Supt Eastwood added: “This is a shocking incident. I want to praise the professionalism and bravery of the officers who were involved in both responding too, and safely resolving this incident. Whilst Devon and Cornwall remains one of the safest areas to live in the country, this incident acts as a stark reminder of the daily risks that all police officers face - routinely putting themselves in harm’s way to protect the public.”

My Plan For The Next Five Years

George Eustice | George's Online Diary - Thu, 14/05/2015 - 09:59
The election last Thursday delivered a very good result for Cornish Conservatives and I want to thank all those in the Camborne, Redruth and Hayle constituency who placed their confidence in me for a second term. Now the election is over, I want to be clear that I intend to represent everyone in this constituency whether they voted for me or not.
In these last five years I have prioritised the regeneration of our towns. I grew up here and hate the way some people talk down Camborne and Redruth. We have an industrial heritage to be proud of and the housing development at the old Holman's site in Camborne shows we can create new housing as well as protect some of the beautiful architecture that we have. Work to do the same to the old brewery site in Redruth is underway and the transformation of Hayle Harbour is finally taking shape. In the next five years, I want to get things moving on some of the other derelict sites we have like Avers roundabout and Tuckingmill.
We also need to attract new industries and better paid jobs. Unemployment has halved here in the last five years, but the next step is to increase wages and create more opportunities for young people. The new Barncoose Gateway building will provide space for twenty companies employing 500 people. There are already two software companies moving in who between them will employ around 200 people and our schools are now putting more emphasis on maths, physics and computer coding so young people here will be better equipped to take these well paid jobs when they leave school.
Next on my list of priorities is to help those on the bottom rung of the ladder. When people lose their self confidence or get trapped in debt, it can be incredibly demoralising. We need support and advice for those trapped in debt to help them get their life back on an even keel.
Finally, I want to ensure Cornwall gets its fair share of funding for public services. Just because we are a long way from London doesn't mean we should get less than our share. Progress has been made in re-balancing the funding formula so it recognises the challenges faced by Cornwall which has to contend with an older population, increased visitors in the summer and the difficulty of being a peninsula at the end of the line.

Best Night Ever Start and end the night right Devon and Cornwall Police have...

Best Night Ever

Start and end the night right

Devon and Cornwall Police have launched a new campaign to advise young people on staying safe during their summer proms and parties.

“The best night ever...” campaign aims to educate young people about enjoying themselves at social occasions but also reminds them to take measures to ensure they protect their personal safety.

Young people’s judgement may be affected by peer pressure, alcohol, drugs or lack of knowledge and during nights out they may find themselves in situations out of their control. The campaign provides safety advice on getting home, drinking alcohol, peer pressure, relationships and sex.

The force are working with schools to communicate these messages and are offering them opportunity to have their local Youth Intervention Officer visit to discuss the themes with students. They will also be using social media platforms to engage and interact with young people to reiterate the messages.

This campaign is an extension to the #NoBlurredLines campaign which has been running since last September and highlights the issues around healthy relationships, consent and sex.

DCI Brett Mitchell from the Public Protection Unit said; “We want young people to enjoy their proms and parties and this campaign is designed to raise awareness and support young people to make the right choices because sometimes things can go wrong”

“Young people’s judgement may be affected on a night out but this can lead to them being vulnerable. We want to educate and prevent this, before it happens. Our campaign asks them to think before going out to parties so they don’t find themselves in situations out of their control.

“We also want to let young people know that if they need help or advice about an incident that may have happened, we have specially trained officers who can guide them, and there are dedicated support agencies that will provide support as well.

Were you the driver of a yellow car???

Police are trying to trace the driver of a yellow car that is suspected of being involved in a road traffic collision that occurred on the A30 Camborne at the weekend.

A grey Subaru Impreza, travelling on the A30 eastbound at Tolvaddon, collided with the central reservation and landed on the westbound carriageway at around 9.15pm on Saturday 9 May 2015.

Officers are keen to trace a yellow car that left the scene of the collision and may have vital information that could assist with the investigation.

MPC 6210 Roome, based at Camborne Traffic Centre, said: “We are trying to identify the yellow car and appeal to the driver to come forward.

“We would also like to speak to anyone else who has any information about the vehicle or witnessed the collision.”

The female driver of the Impreza, registered to Truro, was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Both carriageways were closed as a result of the collision. Highways were called to repair the central reservation and the road was fully re-opened at around 11:30pm.

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact MPC Roome by emailing 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk or calling 101, quoting reference 784 of 9 May.

Crown currency trial Five found guilty (relating to 3 Hayle Based Companies)

Four men and one woman have been convicted of fraud following a trial lasting nine weeks at Southwark Crown Court.

All five defendants stood trial in relation to offences of fraudulent trading, false accounting, money laundering and theft.

This followed a 2 year and 9 month police investigation by the Force’s Economic Crime Unit into the failure of three Hayle based companies, namely, Crown Currency Exchange Ltd (CCE), Crown Holdings Ltd (CHL) and Mayfair & Grant Ltd (M&G).

This is the largest fraud investigation ever undertaken by the Devon & Cornwall force.

Susan Benstead aged 70 years from Penzance was found guilty of money laundering.

Edward James aged 75 years from Glastonbury was found guilty of fraudulent trading.

Julian Benstead aged 46 years from Penzance was found guilty of fraudulent trading.

Roderick Schmidt aged 46 years from Penzance was found guilty of fraudulent trading and theft.

Stephen Matthews aged 51 years from Penzance was found guilty of false accounting .

The Judge has adjourned sentencing until Friday 12th June.

Following the verdicts the Senior Investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Bean commented.

‘Devon and Cornwall Police welcome the decision of the court today.
‘This has been a lengthy and complicated enquiry into the activities of an Organised Crime Group who have defrauded in excess of 12,000 victims throughout the UK over a 4year period. This group acted together to falsely trade over the internet as legitimate companies whilst in fact were insolvent from December 2006. False accounts were submitted to Companies House and substantial amounts of money stolen from the company accounts to fund lavish lifestyles. The total loss to the victims’ is in excess of £19.5million.

‘The police investigation has been both lengthy and complicated. It has been conducted by a small team of experienced fraud investigators. It has involved the detailed examination of in excess of 1,500 documents, 3000 exhibits, 370 bank accounts and 80 computers. Enquiries have been conducted throughout the UK, in France and Bulgaria.

‘Following these verdicts Devon and Cornwall Police will pursue the confiscation of criminal assets with a view to obtaining compensation for the victims who have provided statements of loss to the police’.

A post-election rant…

uk_election_campaign_01

The polls have finally closed and no one’s propaganda can make the blindest bit of difference now. The national campaign seems to have been painfully long and negative, without shedding too much light on the issues that will make the most difference to people’s lives. I’m glad it’s over.

Here in North Cornwall I really hope Dan Rogerson is re-elected – he’s been a fantastic local MP for the past ten years and, in my opinion, fully deserves to carry on the good work.

Nationally – in spite of a really nasty set of exit polls – I hope the numbers work out in such a way that the Tories are nowhere near government this time. Their wilful disregard for the vulnerable and disadvantaged has only been mildly tempered by Lib Dems in coalition and I have no desire to see a repeat.

Regardless of who forms the next government here is my wishlist of the things I hope they remember:

1. Please make sure that any debate about the future of Europe is based on the facts, not emotive propaganda led by tax exile newspaper owners with vested interests.
2. Please stop making scapegoats of immigrants. The vast majority work extremely hard and help provide so many vital services – the NHS, for example – that we take for granted. Be nice, people!
3. Please take a good hard look at whether our ‘First Past The Post’ system and an unelected House Of Lords are really relevant to 21st Century Britain.
4. Please don’t just accept the ‘austerity’ agenda without question. Much harm has been done in the name of deficit reduction and the suffering has mainly fallen on the poor and vulnerable rather than the super-rich speculators who caused the crash in the first place.
5. Please stop playing politics with Scotland and ‘The Union’. I don’t see any reason to be scared of Nicola Sturgeon, and the constant assault of the right wing press will only increase divisions and make a permanent split inevitable.

I leave you with the words of my great political hero, Abraham Lincoln, which I hope are at least partially relevant:

“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

Post-election rant over…
