Potential New School and Community Sports Facility
Hayle Town Council and Hayle Community School are investigating the possibility of building a new indoor sports facility, located on the School site, should funding be available.
The School is taking the lead on the Project, supported by the Town Council and needs to establish potential levels of support and usage, to build a Business Case and subsequently apply to funders. It is envisaged that the Scheme would cost between £2.2M and £2.5M to build and could include the following:
- A 4 court sports hall suitable for a wide range of sporting use
- A state of the art gym
- A dance studio
- Reception/social area
- Separate entrances and changing facilities for school and public usage
There would also be dedicated car parking provided.
Initial meetings have been held with Cornwall Council, Carrick Community Leisure (Cornwall Council's Leisure operator), Cornwall Sports Partnership and George Eustice MP and the need for the facility has been clearly established.
To have a realistic chance of securing the necessary funding, it is essential that there is sufficient community support and letters have been sent to local Clubs and Organisations to find out what support there is for this Project.
If your Club or Organisation does not receive a letter by 8 February 2013, but would like to give its views, please write to Hayle Town Council. In your letter, in addition to confirming whether or not you support the Project and how likely it would be that your Organisation would use the Centre, you are asked to give particular attention to the following:
- Would a new Community Leisure Facility help your Club/Sport/Organisation increase participation levels?
- Would it improve access to your Club/Sport/Organisation?
- Would it help you raise standards?
A reply by the end of February would be greatly appreciated.
