A30 in Hayle closed in both direction after fears shopping centre roof ‘could blow off’
The road is likely to stay closed for at least one hour
The busy A30 near St Erth has been closed in both directions this morning over fears that an unsecured shopping centre roof “could blow off” and into the road.
All lanes the carriageway are likely to remain closed for at least an hour while emergency services attend the scene.
It is understood that firefighters are currently working to try to secure the roof.
Speaking to Cornwall Live , a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “The roof is still on the building but it looks like it could be about to blow off and could end up on the A30.
“The fire brigade are at the scene at the moment and are trying to secure the building.
“It is likely that the road will remain closed for at least an hour.”
