Warning about large tidal range at Hayle beach
Published by Sarah Yeoman at 6:49am 27th July 2020.
A warning has gone out to beach-goers in west Cornwall about the dangers of a large tidal range.
Lifeguards are urging people not to enter the Hayle Estuary on Monday because of an increasing swell.
There has been an increase in the number of people parking near the river where there is no lifeguard cover.
People are urged to swim and bodyboard between the red and yellow flags on the main beach instead.
It comes just 10 days after a warning went out about a deep hole causing a rip current in the Hayle area too.
"With an increasing swell tomorrow and a large tidal range in Hayle Estuary please do to enter the river.
"Due to ongoing harbour developments we have seen an increase in the number of visitors parking in Harvey Towans car park where there are no lifeguards.
"We are urging people to swim/bodyboard between the red and yellow flags on the main beach."
